Sulawesi
Toraja is a highland region located in the mountainous heart of South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Renowned for its dramatic landscapes, cultural richness, and traditional farming practices, Toraja is one of the most iconic coffee-producing regions in Indonesia. Toraja has been producing Arabica coffee since the Dutch colonial era. Coffee cultivation is deeply embedded in local customs and is often carried out by smallholder farmers using traditional methods. The beans are typically processed using Indonesia’s unique “wet-hulled” (giling basah) method, which contributes to the signature full body and earthy flavor profile.
